Hey Mom Bloggers! [Apr. 17th, 2008|12:29 pm]

Hi Mom Bloggers, I am helping Alexis Martin Neely launch her new book, "Wear Clean Underwear: A Fast, Fun, Friendly - and Essential - Guide to Legal Planning for Busy Parents. With her savvy book Wear Clean Underwear, Alexis helps parents understand how important – and easy – legal planning is for parents. You can find out more info on the book at www.wearcleanunderwearbook.com.

So why am I writing you?

For each mom blogger who reviews the book on or before May 7, we will offer a comprehensive Kids Protection Plan counseled and prepared by a celebrity lawyer, Alexis Martin Neely. This is a great value, as an attorney prepared Kids Protection Plan is normally $1,000. And, because Alexis Martin Neely is no longer seeing new clients, this offer is truly priceless.

Let me know if you can review the book by May 7th. We would love your participation. Please contact me at alicia@wealthygirlsummit.com if you are interested.

Poll on First Language Acquisition [Nov. 30th, 2006|11:23 pm]

[mood |hopefulhopeful]

I'm working on a project for my linguistics class, and I'm wondering if anybody out there would be willing to help me out. If you have children that have already learned how to talk, can you follow the links over to my journal to take a poll?

The first poll is for parents who have taught their children spoken English only.

The second poll is for parents who have taught their children spoken English and baby sign language

I sincerely appreciate your help with this.

An Interesting Email I got- thought I'd Share [Oct. 14th, 2006|07:27 pm]

And you also find out interesting things when you have sons, like

1.) A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4 inches deep.

2.) If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3.) A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

4.) If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint
can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

5.) You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6.) The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7.) When you hear the toilet flush and the words "uh oh", it's already too late.

8.) Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9.) A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old Man says they can only do it in the movies.

10.) Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4- year old Boy.

11.) Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.

12.) Super glue is forever.

13.) No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14.) Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15.) VCR's do not eject "PB &J" sandwiches even though T V commercials show they do.

16.) Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17.) Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18.) You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.

19.) Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens.

20.) The fire department in Austin , TX has a 5-minute response time.

21.) The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22.) It will, however, make cats dizzy.

23) Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24.) 80% of Women will pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without kids.

25.) 80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid

Moving to NC is harder than I thought. [Sep. 26th, 2006|12:01 am]

Here we are after 10 years of wanting to move to the greatest place on earth, North Carolina, and it is so much harder than I ever thought. Packing, choosing a house, where? finding a job that will support us so that I might not have to work also. whew! We love New Bern and Morehead City. One has the houses that I love and the other the jobs. Why can't we find what we need? Help, if you live in either of these places, offer suggestions about work and nice communities. We have always vacationed on the Outer Banks each year, but to decide on where we should live is another. Should we consider Newport? Please help, we are coming down this weekend to give it another try. Time is running out. Thanks. Marie

We're Coming Down!!! [Sep. 8th, 2006|12:48 pm]

Hi, I'm Marie. We live in Maryland and are relocating to N.C. I've waited a long time for this. We are currently looking for employment for my husband and then will settle on a house. We've been looking in the New Bern area. Some are telling me that my 15 year old son will not find much to do there. We do a lot of things together as a family, fishing, biking, watching BMX and his skateboarding. He too, needs new friends, but we are tired of the drugs and kids who won't go to school. We are having some trouble finding a good job for my husband.I hope that he finds a good one so that I can stay home and keep house, and possibly continue to homeschool my son. Also, I would love suggestions as to where a nice area is. We've considered New Bern, Wilmington, Beaufort, Morehead City, Stately Pines, Trent Woods, etc. I am going to really need some new friends as I am leaving so many behind. Thanks. Marie
